Chemical composition and pharmacological propertiesThe drug contains tiamulin hydrogen fumarate - 100 mg/ml and colistin sulfate - 180,000 IU/ml, as well as excipients.
As a new class antibiotic, tiamulin hydrogen fumarate (a pleuromutilin based compound) has bacteriostatic activity inhibiting growth and development of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms including Mycoplasma spp., Haemophilus spp., Treponema hyodesenteriae, Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Clostridium perfringens, Leptospira spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Pasteurella spp., Corynebacterium pyogenes.
Colistin sulfate (a polypeptide antibiotic) is active against gram-negative microorganisms including Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus spp., Shigella spp.
After parenteral administration tiamulin and colistin well and rapidly absorb in injection with further penetration in organs and tissues obtaining peak concentrations in 1.5-2 hours.
